Objective and Purpose
- The Objective of the Student Academic Success (SAS) is to create a pathway to a systemized communication for students to receive guidance and advice in understanding the different concepts and systems used by the University. This provides a systematic channel for students to seek advice on academic and non-academic matters.
- Upon enrolment, each student will be assigned to an academic advisor who will serve as the student's advisor for the entire duration of the student's study at the University.
Roles and Responsibilities of Students/Advisee
All students, regardless of year of study, are to meet their Academic Advisors for assistance and advice in drawing up their plan of study. In general, students need to:
- understand the rules and regulations on-campus, especially related to course registration, add & drop, withdrawal period etc
- understand their programme structure, and the options of Minor packages
- register for the right courses, with the right code, and not exceeding the maximum allowable credit per semester
- meeting advisors regularly, minimum of twice per semester
- adhere and embrace the UTP values (CAAIR)
- take part in various on-campus activities
- seek advice from advisors/counsellors when necessary
- if, a student falls under probation, they must seek help from their advisors, and participate in self-improvement programmes intended to help them improve their academic performance
- in addition, International Students should be aware of their country’s immigration requirement, visa expiration date and visa renewal procedures
